Meet Ramiro Leal | CanvasRebel
We’re excited to introduce you to the always interesting and insightful Ramiro Leal. We hope you’ll enjoy our conversation with Ramiro below.
Alright, Ramiro thanks for taking the time to share your stories and insights with us today. Are you happy as a creative professional? Do you sometimes wonder what it would be like to work for someone else?
I’m happiest as a creative, without a doubt. But I think it’s natural—especially during the quieter or more uncertain moments in your career—for your mind to wander and wonder, What if I had a regular job?
I had one of those moments not too long ago. I’d wrapped a big project, and like many artists, I was waiting for the next opportunity to take shape. During that lull, I caught myself imagining the stability of a 9-to-5—clocking in, knowing exactly where the next paycheck would come from, maybe even having weekends entirely off. But the thought was short-lived.
When you’re a true creative, you realize there’s no other path for you. For me, it always comes back to storytelling and the incredible connection it brings. The idea of not pursuing my art felt hollow. I know that even on my toughest days, this career—this life—is my purpose.
That reflection reminded me why I chose this path and why I keep choosing it, even when things get tough. It’s not always easy, but I wouldn’t trade the unpredictability, the highs, and the magic of being a creative for anything else.
As always, we appreciate you sharing your insights and we’ve got a few more questions for you, but before we get to all of that can you take a minute to introduce yourself and give our readers some of your back background and context?
I’m Ramiro Leal, an actor, model, and producer originally from Monterrey, Mexico, now based in Los Angeles. My journey into the entertainment industry was born out of a love for storytelling and connecting with people on a deeper level. Growing up, I was always captivated by the way stories—whether in film, television, or even a single photograph—could inspire, teach, and unite us. That passion led me to pursue acting and modeling, and eventually to expand my creative efforts into producing projects that resonate globally.
As an actor, I specialize in roles that demand charisma, depth, and versatility, with a focus on action and horror films. As a model, I’ve worked with athletic and editorial brands, blending aspirational energy with a polished aesthetic. On the production side, I’m passionate about collaborating with teams to bring impactful stories to life—stories that highlight universal experiences and foster meaningful connections.
How did you build your audience on social media?
When I first started building my audience on social media, I was often told to “follow trends,” chase what the algorithm favors, and mimic what’s already working for others. While there’s certainly value in understanding trends and platforms, I found that my best strategy was leaning into my own voice and sharing my stories from my unique perspective.
For me, social media became an extension of my creativity. I focused on telling stories that felt true to me—whether it was behind-the-scenes glimpses of my projects, moments that reflected my humor and aspirations, or experiences that connected with the values I hold close. By doing this, I’ve built a channel that doesn’t just attract followers but resonates with people who share similar views and passions.
One of the biggest lessons I’ve learned—both in my work and on social media—is that success isn’t about chasing massive, untargeted reach. Instead, it’s about building a steady, loyal community of like-minded individuals who genuinely support and align with your content.
For those just starting out, my advice is simple: stay authentic. Be thoughtful about what you share and make sure it reflects who you are and what you stand for. Trends will come and go, but your perspective is what makes your content stand out. Building an audience takes time, but when you focus on genuine connection, you’ll find that the growth you achieve is more meaningful and lasting.
Are there any resources you wish you knew about earlier in your creative journey?
If there’s one thing I wish I had understood earlier, it’s the power of consistent practice in honing your craft. It’s easy to think that being “ready” as a creative just means showing up for auditions, gigs, or opportunities—but the truth is, readiness comes from constant preparation.
Think about athletes: they’re on the field every day, training and refining their skills. Musicians rehearse tirelessly to master their performance. As actors, we need to approach our craft with the same level of dedication. Whether it’s taking acting classes, working on scene studies, or simply practicing monologues at home, staying sharp and continuously improving is key.
Early in my career, I underestimated how much time I needed to dedicate to practicing outside of booked work. Now, I see it as essential. Acting isn’t just about performing when the camera rolls; it’s about building the muscle memory, instincts, and confidence that allow you to deliver your best when it matters most.
So, to anyone just starting out: don’t wait for the “big break” to start practicing. Treat your craft like an athlete treats their training—it’s the everyday work that prepares you for greatness.
